Kalpa

Kalpa is small town located in the lap of Kinner Kailash peak, across 240kms from Shimla. It is environed by snowy peak for almost the entire year. PLACES TO VISIT

Recong Peo
It is situated at 240km from Shimla, 7km from Powari and 13km from Kalpa. Recong Peo is headquartering of Kinnaur district.

Kothi
It is situated at just 3km from Recong Peo. Kothi has a temple devoted to Chanadika Devi. Band versus a background of mountains and graves of the deodar the temple has an unsual architectural style and fine sculpture.

Sangla Valley
This place is the fort of Kamru and its tower like architecture resembles that of the Bhima Kali complex and this was the origin of rulers of Bushehar, Chitkul.

Riba
This place is located at 18km from Powari on NH-22 is well-known for its vineyards and local wine Angoori made from grapes.

Jangi
It is at 26km from Powari, the inner border is located here beyond which foreigners require permit to travel upto Tabo. From this point the well-known Kinner Kailash Parikrama Trek begins touching Morang, Thangi and Kunocharang villages and getting into Chitkul village in Sangal Valley.

BY ROAD
The route is on NH-22 (Hindustan Tibet Road) which diverges to Kalpa from Powari. Buses are available at Shimla and Rampur.

The best time to visit Kalpa is during summer, winter and monsoon.
