VADHU AND TULAPUR

 These two small places have a great historical significance. Tulapur earlier called Nagargaon is the place where Sambhaji, son of Shivaji was murdered by Aurangazeb, his tomb was constructed in Vadhu. Tulapur is located at the convergence of Indrayani, Bhima and Bhama rivers. This place is famous for the Sangameshwar temple where Lord Shiva is the main diety. Worshippers attend the temple in large numbers during important festivals. Sambhaji’s Samadhi is now being renovated for tourism purposes.

 Inspite of being small, these places are a vital part of the Maratha history.

By Air: If you are planning to arrive by air Pune airport is the nearest option. From the airport taxis can be hired to Vadhu and Tulapur. 

By Rail : The nearest major railhead is located at Pune which is about 30kms from the villages. Taxis are the best means to reach Vadhu and Tulapur.
