Kheda
Kheda is located in Gujarat, a state in the western part of India. Khera is also known as Kaira. It is a significant business town. The existence of the old town of Kheda can be traced back to almost 5th Century AD. In the year 1803, a military troop was constructed by the British Government here. A Jain temple with fine engravings is located in Kheda. Bishop Herber dedicated a church here in the year 1822. A Towh Hall which exists since the 19th century is also present here in Kheda. At present, Kheda is counted as one of the primary place of dairy industry of India. The renowned Amul Milk Diary is located close to Kheda in a place called Anand.
THINGS TO SEE
Galatesvar: If anyone had ever gone to Dakor, one would definitely like to make a trip to Galatesvar. The Shiva temple of Solanki is located at a distance of 16 Kms from Dakor. The architectural design of the temple is interesting and the location in which the temple is built is strikingly beautiful. The major portion of the Temple remains unscathed, although some of the parts of the structure have been damaged over time. Galav Muni Chandrahaas, famous from the Puranas, dwelled on the convergence point of the rivers named Mahi and Galati. A spring originating from the river Galati is present on the beautiful bed of Mahi River and on the wonderful ancient temple of Shiva. The spring drizzles water over the Shivalinga (Abhishek) continuously. An unusual octagonal hall is present here. Sculptures of gods, 'gandharvas', humans, Rishis, horse riders, elephant riders, chariots, and palanquins have been engraved on the walls of the temple. Also the happening in human life, right from being born to passing away along with all the important and significant events that took place till that era have been engraved on these octagonal walls. These carvings make the temple interesting and appealing to the human eye.
The town of Galateshwar has, at present, become a popular destination for tourism. One can see the stone mines and the huge industries for cement manufacturing when going in the direction of Godhara. These factories and quarries are located in Savalia. From here if one move towards right after taking a left turn, then the river Mahi and Vanaakbori Thermal Station can be seen. This power generating plant is larger than the Dhuvaran Project. The plant along with the Vanakbori Dam, produce power, which along with the supply of water is given to the town of Kheda. As a result the agriculture of the area is being developed. A well renowned location in the world, Raiyali is present here, which can be seen if one reached the ancient Balasinor. The distance between Balasinor and Raiyali is a mere 12 Kms. This spot is being recognized by the people all over the world because of its uniqueness. Bones and fossils from ancient times dating back to almost 6 to 62 crores years, have been dug up from this location. The proof that many more such fossils and animal structures present underground at this location is present on the stony surface of Raiyali. The topping on the cake is the fact that a creature’s whole skeleton has been discovered in an unblemished condition here. Another interesting fact about this place is that, for the very first time in the entire world, Dinosaur’s eggs have been found here. It is a very thrilling experience to see and touch all the prehistoric remains.
HOW TO REACH
By road: Buses connect all the place of Gujarat to Kheda. NH 8 passes through Kheda.
By rail: No railway station is present in Kheda. The nearest railway station is situated in Ahmedabad, which is located at a distance of 60 Kms from here.
