Kanyakumari is centre for art, culture and pilgrimage. It has been described as the southernmost end of Tamil Nadu, the land’s end of India. Kanyakumari is famous for its spectacular sunrises and sunsets. It is much admired to watch the sunrise and sunset here. Because this is a meeting point of three oceans - the Bay of Bengal, the Indian Ocean, and the Arabian Sea. Kanyakumari as it is known is one of the best places to visit. Surrounded by Majestic Hills and the plains bordered by colourful sea-shores, fringed with coconut trees and paddy fields, here and there are few elevated patches of red cliffs with undulating valleys and plains between the mountainous terrain and the sea - coast, so closely interwoven with Temples and Churches and other edifices lies the district, 'Kanyakumari'. A traveller who enjoys the beauty of the nature never gets bored of the beauty of KanyaKumari...... Myth has that Kanya Devi, an avatar of Goddess Parvati, who was to marry Lord Shiva. But he did not turn up and the wedding never took place. The rice and cereals meant for the marriage remained uncooked. Even today, one can buy stones there that look exactly like rice and cereals. Kanyakumari, the Virgin Goddess, is the protector of India’s shores.

Kanyakumari is connected to most of the cities by the Indian Railways, with direct trains to Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, Jammu, Chennai and many others. Additionally, buses are available to go to Trivandrum, Nagercoil, Tirunelvelli, Rameswaram and other nearby towns. The Nearest Airport To kanyakumari is Trivandrum international Airport which is 80 KM from kanyakumari. From Trivandrum you can come to kanyakumari by TRAIN or BUS or TAXI BY TRAIN
The Nearest Railway station to kanyakumari is kanyakumari railway station which is 01 KM from kanyakumari Beach. The Bus stand is also situated very near to the railway station.
BY AIR Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) of neighbouring state Kerala, is the nearest international airport, with direct flights from the Middle East, Singapore, Maldives and Sri Lanka. And is served by Air-India, among others. From there two hour Train or Bus or you can reach Chennai (Madras) the state capital and catch Train or Bus. Alternatively reach Kochi, Kozhikode (Calicut), Bangalore, Bombay, New Delhi, Calcutta and then by train.
WEATHER Anytime of the year is good although you must keep away from the monsoon season and the best season is from October to March.
