Anini
The headquarter town of Dibang Valley, a district in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, is Anini. The distance between Roing and Anini is 234 kilometers. The presence of the shimmering mighty mountains and the meadows full of plush green color makes it an incomplete experience if one does not come to Anini on their trip to Arunachal Pradesh. The environment of Anini, which is still unaffected by the busy city life, provides a serene and pure atmosphere for the visitors to enjoy their stay here.
The headquarters of the district was located in Anini prior to the separation of the Valley into two parts namely Lower Dibang Valley and Dibang Valley. The small town of Anini is located on top of the plateau, from which one can oversee the Dri River. In the state of Arunachal Pradesh, the small town of Anini is considered to be one of the cities, where development hasn’t occurred much. Anini is still developing. Roing, which is the closest town to this place located in the Lower Dibang Valley, is backing up Anini with setting up groundwork and infrastructure as well as business purposes.
Till some time ago only, for the supply of necessary food items for daily use, the residents of the small town of Anini counts on the Indian Air Force. The Anini also lacks a road which functions in all kinds of weather conditions. Anini is the only district headquarters of Arunachal Pradesh which lacks such a road. However, will all these irregularities present, still this place is definitely worth visiting.
PLACES TO SEE
Roing- Mayudia-Anini: This route starts in Assam’s Dibrugarh, which goes to Roing in a half circular shape. Roing is Lower Dibang Valley’s district headquarters. During the years between 1969 and 1973, the fort was dug out. From the excavation numerous terracotta plaques, ornamented tiles, potteries, figures made of terracotta and many more items were unearthed. Due to this excavation, many a facts were known of the deep and intense past of this region. In the Bhagwad Gita and Mahabharata, the mention of Bhismaknagar can be seen. The mythological stories of Lord Krishna and Rukmini were linked with the Idu Mishmi Tribe. Rukmini was the daughter of King Bhismaka. According to the myth, Rukmini hailed from this tribe. Also, derived from the numerous myths and legends is the fact that the relics of the fort was the capital of Raja Bhismaka.
Hunli: The curious town of Hunli is located at a distance of 90 Kms from Roing. The town is set amidst the breathtakingly beautiful valley. For the tribal people of this area, the holy place to worship is the Kapuli Temple, close to Hunli. It is a cave temple. The journey to Hunli from Roing is a spectacular experience, with the glimpses of the breathtaking sceneries and magical beauty. The roads, all the way, are well maintained.
Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary and Lake: At a distance of 17 Kms from Roing, the Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary and Lake are situated. The area of the place is 28105 square kilometers. The elevation of the place ranges from 400 meters to as much as 3368 meters above the sea level. Wild duck, takin, hollock gibbon, tiger, leopard, red panda, elephant and many more species of animals which are rare, can be found here in the sanctuary. The area of the lake is 4 square kilometers. It is located in the sanctuary. A rich variety of animals and plants is found in the areas encircling the lake. Taking a stroll around the lake, looking at the sparkling clear water of the lake can be an enriching experience.
Sally Lake: The distance of the Sally Lake resort and Roing is a mere 3 Kms. A part of the Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary, it is a natural lake, which is encircled by dense trees and bushes. A spectacular view of the valley can be seen from the lake.
HOW TO REACH
By road: The town of Anini is well linked to the most of the places in the state of Arunachal Pradesh. There are numerous roads which go to Roing.
By rail: Tinsukia railway station is the closest railway station to the town of Anini.
By air: The nearest air terminal is located in Dibrugarh. From there one can take buses to reach Anini.
