                                                      Samastipur

On 14th November, in the year 1972, the status of district was given to Samastipur. Prior to this, Samastipur used to be included in the district of Darbhanga as its subdivision. The northern side of the Samastipur district is bounded by Darbhanga, the southern side is bounded by Patna, the eastern side s bordered by Begusarai, while Muzaffarpur and Vaishali border the district on the western side. Samastipur, Dalsingsarai, Patori and Rosera are four of the sub-divisional towns of the Samastipur District. 

The district contains no forest region. Main occupation of the people is agriculture. Tobacco, cane, chilli, turmeric and various kinds of vegetables are cultivated here.
 
Renowned and respected educational centers such as the Rajendra Agriculture University, the Central Tobacco Research Institute and the Central Cane Research Institute are present in the district of Samastipur. 

The district of Samastipur also has rivers such as Burhi Gandak, Kareh, Kamla and Bagmati, which meanders throughout the district.

Mannipur Temple: The distance between Samastipur, which is the headquarters of the district and thim temple is a mere 2 Kms. The temple has been dedicated to the Goddess Durga. During the occasion of Dussehra festival, that is during the months of September and October, the temple witness huge number of footfall.

Khudneshwar Sthan: At a distance of the town of Samastipur, the place called Morwa is situated.

Khatushyam Mandir: In Samastipur, close to the Gola Road, the Lord Krishna temple is located. During the occasion of Janmashtami festival, hundreds of followers come here to worship.

By rail: Out of all the divisional headquarters of the East Central Railway, Samastipur is one of them.
