Muzaffarpur

Over a wide spread of alluvial land, which is formed by the rivers namely Gandak, Bagmati and other rivers, the district of Muzaffarpur is located. No elevated terrain can be seen here. The wide alluvial region is a region of immense productiveness. The major part of the district’s soil is made of alluvial soil. The fact that the neighboring regions are low lying than the other river embankments is a unique characteristic of the district. The reason for this is the repeated accumulation of silt by the river. This contributes to the occurrence of the recurrent floods that take place during the monsoon season, especially in the district’s northeast and southwest portions.

                                TOURIST PLACES IN MUZAFFARPUR

Shri Ram Temple: Situated in Muzaffarpur City’s Sahu Pokhar region, Shri Ram Temple is known to be one of the other Navratna temples. According to tales, a Rajasthani artist constructed this temple. However, later on, the duty of preservation of the temple was taken up by Shri Shiv Prasad. The presence of memorials of Lord Rama and his wife, Sita have made this place renowned. The third biggest Shivlinga present in India can be found in the temple, inside the Mahadev Shrine.   

                   

Rajkhand: The distance between Rajkhand, which is a small village and the Muzaffarpur’s Aurai Block Headquarters is a mere 5 Kms. The presence of an ancient Bhairav Temple has made this place renowned. During the occasion of the Mahashivratri, a yearly cattle fair is hosted here. Hathilwa-Mathh, Radha-Krishna Temple, Badi Masjid at Company Bagh and Ramna Gurudwara are some of the popular tourist locations that can be visited by the visitors. 

Kali Mata Temple: In the year 1932, the creation of Sikandarpur’s Kali Mata Temple took place. It is situated on Gandak River’s southern shore. Darbhanga Maharaj Kamlesh Singh oversaw the construction of this temple. 

Ram Chandra Shahi Museum: In the year 1979, the building of the Ram Chandra Museum took place. It is situated within the grounds of the Jubba Sahni Park. An assortment of uncommon postage stamps, relics and other different items of art are present in the display of the museum.   

                 

 Simri Mai Temple: Near to the Muzaffarpur Engineering College situated in Avaas Nagar, the Simri Mai Temple of Police Line is present. The temple has been built in the name of Goddess Bhagwati. As per the mythological stories, during the night time, an aged woman used to perform meditation for a lengthy period of time and she died on Navratra’s 17th day. The rank of Lokpeeth has been given to this place. This place is well known as Simri Mai.
