Samastipur History
The sub-division of Darbhanga Judgeship was Samastipur Judgeship. Taking into account the vast area of the Judgeship of Darbhanga, construction of a separate Judgeship, which was the Samastipur Judgeship, took place. Another point kept in mind in doing so was to create ease for the people. It began with a friendly as well as a serious note. On 16th April, 1986, the construction of one more sub-division took place along with a court, since the cases continued to build up in more numbers with passing of time. Located at Samastipur itself, it was called as Rosera. Moving of the Rosera Sub-Division to Rosera itself was done on 20th August, 1988, which is two year after its creation. Earlier Honble Mr. Justice R. N. Lal of Honble High Court of Judicature at Patna opened this function. The operations of Dalsingsarai, which is a sub-division, started on 20th December, 1986. At Samastipur, the offices and court of this sub-division is located bodily. However, on 23rd November, 2002, once again bodily transference of Dalsingsarai sub-division to Dalsingsarai took place. The Honble Mr. Justice P.K. Dev of Honble High Court of Judicature at Patna inaugurated the function. In the year 2005, construction of a Family Court took place in the judgeship, following the surging of Family Courts all over the country. On 16th July, 2005, the Honble Mr. Justice Nagendra Rai, Acting Chief Justice, Honble High Court of Judicature at Patna & Honble of that time and Mr. Justice C. M Prasad, Honble High Court of Judicature at Patna launched this court.
