Painaw is most stunning hill station and a growing honey moon destination in Kerala, headquarters of Idukki district, located at an altitude of 1000 meters from the sea level. It is the Asis’s first arch dam and world’s second arch dam, measuring 550 feet in height and 650 feet in width, built across Periyar river which supports the hydroelectric project. The vast dam comprises of twenty small and big dams, majestic rivers and underground tunnels. The dam is beautifully nested in between two mountains namely Kuravanmal and Kurathimala, surrounded by evergreen environs.
