Places to visit in Medinipur
Pathra- it is 10km away from Medinipur, situated at the bank of River Kangsabati. This is a village famous for its 34 temples. These temples are maintained and taken care by the Archaeological Survey of India. The largest temple among this is Navratna Temple on the western bank of Kangsabati. The marvelous terracotta work on the walls of this place is mesmerizing and it is 250yrs old. All this temples has a deity of Lord Krishna, Goddesses Radha, and Lord Ram. Therefore this place not only serves to be a tourists spot but also a pilgrim place and every year apart from the tourists this place visited by the devotees as well.
Medinipur town- the popular attraction of this town is Kali mandir and this town is located exactly at the confluence of Kanshabati River. It also has a single dome tomb of Pir Lohani Baba. It is quite renowned for its terracotta work and the terracotta material is quite cheaper and easily available. Medinipur has a pleasant climate throughout the year. But the best time to visit the place is during autumn that starts from the end of September and lasts till 1st week of December.
