Distinctly different from Digha the other sea beach in West Bengal, Shankarpur is cherished for its serenity and its beach resort. It is an unexplored sea beach located far from the hustle and bustle of the city. With sun and foamy surf and untrammeled silt colored sand, this beach is becoming popular among the tourists.  This is famous as virgin beach. It is located in the Mednipur district of West Bengal. It is a quite place with a very few citizens and more numbers of tourists. One must visit the place in order to have a pristine and gala time with their family in the midst of the dazzling sea beach and clear blue sky. 

 

The sea is calm and thus safer for both swimming and sea bath. The prime attraction exactly after the sea beach is the sea itself, where the people spent most of the time. It is approximately 14kms away from Digha and often visited by the tourists. It is the twin beach of Digha. Though it is situated in a remote area yet all the modern facilities are available here.  The beach is lined up with casuarinas tree and it is also famous for its Fishing Harbour. 

Shankarpur Beach- the virgin beach also considered to be the twin beach of Digha. The charming and charismatic beach itself is an attraction for the tourists. The exotic beauty of the place enthralls the tourists.  This place is also famous for fisheries and special care is taken by the Fishery Departments. 

Digha Beach- it is few kms away from Shankarpur. It is one of the beautiful sea beaches in West Bengal. This place is another attraction of Shankarpur.  It is also famous for sunrise and sunset. 

Kolkata airport serves the region and it is the most likely option if one is travelling by air. Taxi or cab is always available. It takes around 5hrs to reach Shankarpur.

Digha railway station is the best option if one is travelling by train and then its take around 45mins to reach Shankarpur.

Both private and public buses are available. It is the fastest mode of transportation. in bus it takes aroun 5hrs to reach Shankarpur.

January, February and may are the best month to visit Shankarpur. In this months the Shankarpur has a pleasant  and lovely weather.
