Bharathapuzha River
It is popularly knowns as Nila and second largest river flowing along 209 km in Kerala. The Malampuzha dam and other 11 reserviors are proudly standing along the course of this majestic river. It is the major water source for several districts of Kerala. It is considered sacred for being the house of many Hindu pilgrimages like Chamravattam Ayyappan Temple, Thirunavaya Navamukunda temple and Sree Rama temple.
Kadalundi Bird Santuary
It is beautifully nested in the cluster of islands in Malappuram district. The seducing beauty of this sanctuary is adorned by the majestic River Kadalundipuzha. The vast and spacious sanctuary proudly spreads over 14 acres of land and enormously surrounded by lush greenery and deciduous forests. T houses several varieties of bird and rare bird species. It serves as home forthousands of migratory birds especially from Siberia. It is a witness of great effort of Indian government to create natural habitat of birds, located 19 km from Kozhikode. Tourists can enjoy birds like herons, woodpeckers, Brahminy Kites, Whimbrels, terns, gulls and cormorants.
