Thirunakkara Mahadev Temple
A beautiful sacred Hindu pilgrimage dedicated to Lord Shiva, pure evidence of ancient architecture of Kerala. An ancient temple of 500 years old filled with lively mural paintings gorgeously adorning the walls of temple. Most famous festival is annual Phalguna Utsav which grabs visitors and devotees across the world.
St Mary's Knanaya Church, Valiyapalli
An ancient holy church located near to the Thirunakkara Mahadev temple built during 16th century. It is popularly expressed as Valliapally (Big Church). The peaceful church hold two Persian granite crosses which are carved from a single stone. The entire church is decorated with paintings depicting great events of Jesus Christ.
St Mary Church (Cheriyapally)
It is another famous church in Kottayam located closer to St Mary’s Knanaya Church, popularly known as Cheriapally (Small Church). It is an outstanding sample of fine blend of Portuguese and Kerala architecture. The prominent attraction is paintings which are colored by vegetable oil dyes.
Thazathangadi Juma Masjid
It is most popular sacred place of Islam, made of teak wood peacefully nested on the banks of river Meenachi. The origin of this Mosque is unknown but believed to be 1000 years old. An attractively carved roofs, latticed windows and square courtyard are the prime attractions.
Mannanam
It is place owning many first to its credits, located 11 km from Kottayam, awe-inspiringly located on a hillock at 150 feet from ground level. T is the first seminary of Malabar church, holds a proud of being the first printing press, first catholic English school, first daily newspaper in Malayalam and first Sanskrit catholic school in Kerala. Chavara art museum is another point of attraction.
