Grishneshwar also famous as Ghushmeshwar is a holy place of worship for Hindus. This place is the home of one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. Daulatabad which was first called Devagiri is about 11kms from Grishneshwar. The world-famous cave temple with beautiful rock paintings named Ellora is close to Grishneshwar.
Ahilyabhai Holkar built The Grishneswar temple. He also renovated the Kasi Viswanatha temple and Vishnu Paada temple at Gaya.
History says that Lord Shiva made his presence here and gave back life to the dead son of his ardent devotee Kusuma and hence adored as one of the 12 Jyotirlingas.
