Digha is quite a famous beach in India which is also considered to be a renowned tourist spot. It is 187kms away from Kolkata. The scenic beauty of the place is appealing and delightful. The tourists take pleasure in sunrise and sunset on the beach. The shore is kissed by the gentle breeze.This cool breeze blowing from the sea gives a soothing effect to the tourist who strolls along the beach. The sandy beach of Digha stretches to miles and is touted as one of the most beautiful beach in West Bengal. 
 
     In Digha the tourists acquire pleasure from the sea bath also. The color of the sea water is crystal clear that one can even see beneath the surface of the sea bed. The gentle rolling waves are safer for the sea bath and swimming as well. The main attraction for the tourists after the sea beach is the dazzling sea itself. This is an ideal place for honeymoon and every year thousands of people come here to spent vacation with family, friends or spouse. Sometimes the tourists can also have a glimpse of Dolphins in the sea. The tranquility of the place revives the mind of the visitors.

Places of attraction for the sightseer

Digha is unique in many ways. The charismatic natural beauty of the place attracts thousands of tourists every year. Apart from the stunning sea beach and the astounding sea, the other places of attraction are-

New Digha-  it is the newer section of the town with an elongated beach and  lathered sea. The latest attraction of this place is its Science Centre established by National Council of Science Museum. It also has a Science Park that offers education with entertainment. Kids acquire delight in this park. New Digha also has a small park with a lake called Amravati  lake where one can enjoy boating . Near the lake there is also a snake garden where the visitors can have a glimpse of different varieties of snakes.

Taalsari- this is a breathtaking place with an extensive and magnificent beach. It is an hour drive from Digha and often visited by the visitors. This amazing place is delimited by palm trees as the name itself suggests.  It also has a fishing spot where the fisherman gathers for fishing and then carries them to the market in the town. This place is located far from the din of the society. I

Tazpur:- it takes around 20mins to reach this place from Digha by car. It is not only attractive for its luring beach but also has beautiful cottages instead of hotels. The cottages are quite comforting and have deluxe arrangements. It is not only a tourists place but also a picnic spot. The government of West Bengal is trying to make it more like Goa.  It is a very calm and quiet place with fewer crowds.

Chandaneswar temple- this is a temple of Hindus with a deity of Lord Shiva. This place is quite popular among the people. And the temple is a good example of fine architecture.

Mohona- this is the place where the river and sea meets. It is an awesome place to visit. This is also famous for farming of fish.

Few places which are close to Digha-

Shankarpur- it is also a sea side and it is called a virgin beach. it is 14kms away from Digha. Apart from the elongated, tree-line beach the foremost attraction of this place is Shankarpur Fishing Harbour.

Mandermani- it has an extended and eye-catching beach with beautiful sea. This is an ideal place for the newlywed couples. It is far from the disturbance of the city. 

Junput- it is another beach famous for fish cultivation.  Here researches are done by State Government of Fisheries Department.

How to reach digha

By AIR
It does not have its own airdrome. So the tourists need to arrive at Kolkata Airport which is well linked with all the metropolitan states of India as well as abroad. From there taxi or cab is easily available which charges around Rs 7/km. 

By BUS
Both private and public buses are obtainable from all parts of West Bengal. It takes around 5hrs to reach Digha from Kolkata.
 
By TRAIN
Few years back the West Bengal government has constructed the railway station at Nem Digha. It takes 4hrs to reach. After the construction of the railway station the journey became more comforting.

Best time to visit Digha.

The winter is the finest time to visit the place which begins from November to February. Summer is sizzling and humid. October to march is the perfect time to spent in the beach.
