Burhanpur can proudly be called the gem of Madhya Pradesh, which is a marvellous site for the tourists looking out for the historical manifestation and archaeological findings. It has a lot to offer to those tourists who are keen on the royal splendour. Situated to the north of River Tapti, this place gets its name from the Sufi saint Burhanuddin Gharib. 

 The town flourished royally under the rule of the mighty Mughals and the brave Marathas. The history of the place dates back to about 1400 AD. 
 
 Burhanpur is adorned as a famous pilgrimage centre for Sikhs and Bohra Muslims. Jama Masjid located at the heart of the city attracts the onlookers with its two lofty 35 metres high towers. Constructed by the Mughal Emperor Akbar the masjid is beautifully made up of equally spaced arches and carved pillars. Dargah –e–hakimi is a major devotional place for the Bohra Muslims. Ichchha Devi Temple dedicated to the goddess Ichccha Devi is located at Ichcchapur which is about 23 kms from Burhanpur. The city of Ichcchapur comes alive with carnivals and fairs during Chaitra mass. Besides that, Badshahi Qila, Zenana Hammam are the prime stop over destinations.
 
This place with rich architectural splendour amuses the tourists with its elegant congregation of historic places.

Zenana Hammam : Is the spectacular bathroom of the royal family beautifully bearing the Persian-Mughal architecture. Located in the Badshahi fort, this bath bears excellent designs on the ceilings.

Jama Masjid :  Jama Masjid located at the heart of the city attracts the onlookers with its two lofty 35 metres high towers. Constructed by the Mughal Emperor Akbar the masjid is beautifully made up of equally spaced arches and carved pillars.

Asirgarh Fort : 30 kms from the city of Burhanpur stands a fabulous fort on a hill, the Asirgarh fort. It stands as a gate to the southern India. Asirgarh proper, Kamargarh and Malaygarh are 3 axis of architecture. The fort encloses Moti mahal, Asha mandir, Jama Masjid, Shiva temple and the tomb of a Sufi saint called Nomani Asiri.

Ichchha Devi Temple : Ichchha Devi Temple dedicated to the goddess Ichccha Devi is located at Ichcchapur which is about 23 kms from Burhanpur. This city comes alive with carnivals and fairs during Chaitra mass.

Kundi Bhandara : In the year 1615 Abdul Raheem Khankhana introduced a water storage and distribution centre which was uncommon in India. 8 water tanks were built to provide clean water to the people. This unique system existed in Iraq and Iran.
