Omkareshwar located in the state of Madhya Pradesh is one of the prime pilgrimage centre for the Hindus and is famed for housing one of the 12 Jyotirlinga temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. Ahilyeshwar Temple : Located on the banks of river Narmada, this Shiva temple with extraordinary natural surroundings attracts the visitors with its artistic grandeur. Domes and spires form the main attractions of this shrine.
Jaleshwar Temple : Lord Shiva is worshipped as The Lord of Water here. Historians believe that, Shiva tied the Ganges in his hair mat to protect the earth from the floods caused by the gushing waters of the river.
Kashi Vishvanath Temple : This is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga temples with brilliant architectural prodigy constructed by Queen Ahilyabai of the Holkar empire. The temple is visited by large number of devotees. People believe that god will spread happiness in the hearts and minds of the people and guide them to move in the right direction.
Maheshwar : This temple town earlier called Mahishmati was the capital city of the king Kartivarjun. Situated by the side of river Narmada, Maheshwar has its named referred in the great historic saga of Ramayan and Mahabharat. This place rose to the heights of glory during the rule of Rani Ahilyabai.
