West Bengal one of the renowned state in India. In the beginning Bengal was comprised of east and west Bengal. But after the partition in the year 1905 it got divided into two parts West Bengal and East Bengal.
Alipore is one of the oldest place in west Bengal. It is situated in Kolkata and it is as old as the city itself. Several roads connect Alipore such as A.J.C Bose road to the north, D.L.Khan road to the East, Diamond Harbor road to the west and Alipore avenue to the South.
Alipore is in the south paragana district of West Bengal. This place is very famous for Bengali handicraft. It also has a famous library known as National Library. Alipore has 3 main seasons summer, monsoon and winter.
Summer starts from April and extend up to May.
Monsoon starts from September to November.
Winter starts from December to February.
It is best to visit Alipore during the month of March as it has a very pleasant weather during this month and the temperature is not at all humid. Even monsoon is also an ideal time to visit Alipore.

National Library: famous for its great collection of books which consist of both old and new; both for children and adults.
Alipore Zoological garden: it is famous as Alipore zoo or Kolkata zoo and one of the old zoological garden. A place of interest for all the tourist as well for the research workers. Different varieties of animals and birds are found here. A best place for entertainment for both the children and adults.
Presidency jail: this jail is there since the colonial rule. A very popular jail and one must visit it in order to have an experience about the ambience of the jail.
Agri-horticulture garden: William Carey founded it in 1820. It is flower garden, has a green house also a research laboratory.
City Shoppe: one can do shopping from here which is on Diamond Harbour road.
How to reach Alipore:-
By Air
Alipore is more or less connected to all the parts of the city. Though alipore doesnt have its own airport so it is served by Kolkatas airport. Then from the airport one might hire a taxi and reach the destination within one hour. The taxi fare is approximately Rs 300.
By Train.
In order to reach Alipore one has to reach Howrah or sealdha terminal by train. These two terminals are well connected with all the metropolitan state of India. After reaching there one has to hire a taxi and the taxi is available all the time outside the terminal. The taxi would charge RS 300 approx.
By Buss
Buses are available from Kolkata and it is the cheapest mode of transportation or travelling. It is also time consuming and the journey is quite flexible.
