Aharbal
Aharbal is a small town near Kashmir. It has a waterfall and permits fishing of trout fish. It also houses a lake. Like all the area near the Pir Panjal range, Aharbal is also famous for trekking. While reaching Aharbal, one can see many apple orchards of Shopian which provide beautiful scenery.
Accommodation can be a tad bit of problem here as there are no deluxe or luxury hotels available. Also, one is advised to carry food items with them as you might not be able to find food fit for your appetite.
Tourist Places in Aharbal
Aharbal waterfall: This waterfall has a height of 20 meters. It forms a stream 50 meters. It stretches for several kilometers. The volume of the water that falls is tremendous. One can participate in trout fishing that are found in abundance in the stream formed by the lake. Permission for fishing can be taken by the Fisheries Department.
The edge of the fall is formed out of hard granite boulder. It is quite fascinating to stand there and feel the roaring waterfall.
Kounsernag Lake: This is a very beautiful lake located in the Pir Panjal mountain range. It is an ideal place for trekking. Coniferous tress dot the area. The place is calm and serene.
Kungawatan: It is a lush green meadow. It is an ideal picnic spot.
