Moradabad is a district in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The district headquarters are situated at Moradabad Town. It forms part of the Moradabad division. It is the second most populous district of the state according to the latest census of 2011. Murad, the son of the Mughal Emperor Shahjahan, founded the city in 1600. The city derives its name from his name. It is situated on the bank of the River Ranganga. It is 167 kilometers away from Delhi.

The city produces brass handicrafts most of which are exported to North America and Europe. Hence, it is also sometimes referred to as Brass city or petal nagri. It is world famous for its brassware and glassware. Metalware, handicrafts, electroplating, sugar industry are the other industries. Company Bagh, ancient Kali Mandir, Dum Duma Kothi are important places. More than 400 factories are set up which produce brass, aluminum, iron and glass handicrafts. It is also the worlds largest producer of Bangles.
