Trichy
Trichy is the fourth biggest city in Tamilnadu. It is the place where one can find several Churches, temples, colleges and missons. It is eminent place of several Tamil scholars and a flourishing commercial hub. It is famous for its artificial diamonds, handloom cloths, clay toys, cigars and glass bangles. It is an industrial town with contemporary surroundings. The divinity f this place is contributed by sacred temple dating back 1700s and several monuments. Rock fort is the major tourist attraction. Srirangam is another prominent pilgrim island located 7 km from Trichy. Thiruvanaikaval temple and Maariaman temple are other tourist attractions.

Sri Ranganatha Swamy Temple
It is located in SriRangam town, devoted to Lord Vishnu in the form of Ranganatha. The reclining pose statue of Lord Vishnu is covering the area of 156 acres. It is the first Divya Desams of Lord Vishnu. The majestic temple is glorified by the peculiar Dravidian style of architecture. It holds the honor of being the largest functioning temple in the World. There are 21 surrounding gopurams, decorated gateways, royal temple tower which is measuring 196 feet in height and covers 32500 sq km and a hall contains 1000 pillars. Annual charot festival is celebrated for 21 days with much pomp.
Rock Fort Ganapathi Temple
It is perched on a rock which is considered the oldest rock, 3800 million years old. It is believed to be formed earlier than Himlayas. The temple is reached by climbing 344 steps. The temple is otherwise known as Uthcipillyar temple. A holy tank is located near the rock temple is flocked by devotees during festivals.
Viralimalai Murugan Temple
It is located on the peak of Viralimalai hills. There are 207 steps to reach this temple. Tourists can enjoys numerous peacocks, several woody orchards and Kura trees throughout the journey. The temple is dedicated to Lord Murugan.
St.Joseph Church
It is one of the oldest and popular churches in India. It was built in 1792 by Bristish. It is situated near to Theppakulam. There is alo a world famous education center called St.Joseph College where Dr.Abdul Kalam and R.Venkataraman were studied.
Puliyancholai Falls
It is a beautiful picnic spot lcated at the foot of Kollimalai hills. It is amazingly surrounded by Tamarind groves and verdant greenery. The stream flows through the forest is considered having excellent curative powers. This natural spa attracts several tourists throughout the year.
Other Places
Mukkombu, Vekkaliamman Temple, Kallani Dam, Thiruvanikaval temple, Ganaseelam Vishnu temple, Samayapuram Amman temple and Vayalur Murugan temple are other famous destinations in Trichy.
