Thirunelli
Thirunelli is a wonderful temple located on the sacred hill Brahmagiri, surrounded by deep valley and tnick forest. It was once a famous trade center and reputed Hindus pilgrim center. This temple is mentioned in numerous relics and legends. It is place of archeological significance; one can enjoy several ancient sites and locations in and around this proud temple. Many excavations are done by archeology department which revealed several antiques dated 9th and 10th century. A small stream is located a kilometer away from temple premises is called Papanashini. Sacred ablution in this stream is believed to cleanse the boby and removes impurities of soul. The pond is situated inside the temple comples is known as Panchatheertahm. There are many amazing carvings and lively sculptures are found near the pond.
Thirunelli Temple
An ancient Thirunelli temple is 3000 years old, located in Wayanad. Lord Vishnu is the presiding deity of this temple which is constructed with granite beams. Papanashini is the small stream located at 1 km distance from temple is considered holy and sacred. Many people takes ablutions in the holy water which is believed to cure soul impurities. Temple pond is called Panchatheertham which is further decorated by paintings and sculptures.
