The Gumla district of the Indian state of Jharkhand state contains the town of Simdega. Till now also, this location is not that known to the tourists. The inhabitants of this place consist mostly of people of tribal groups. Simdega is located against the backdrop of lush greeneries.
PLACES TO VISIT IN SIMDEGA
Kelaghgh dam: Located on the river named Chhinda, the Kelaghgh Dam is a spectacular sight for the visitors. The distance between the district headquarters and this dam is a mere 4 Kilometers. Numerous hill ranges encircle the dam, thus creating a beautiful environment. Some fun activities carried in here are motor boating and parasailing. A spectacular park is also present in a plateau near the dam.
Ram Rekha dham: The distance between Simdega and the Ram Rekha Dham is 26 kilometers. As per mythological stories, this is one of the locations, where Lord Ram, Laxman and Mata Sita dwelled for some time during the exile of 14 years. The main attractions of this place are some archeological specimens such as agni kund, charan paduka, sita chulha, gupt ganga and many more. There is also a temple of Lord Rama, Laxman, Sita and Hanuman present inside a cave. A fair is hosted in the place during the time of Kartik Purnima in a yearly basis.
Dangadi: One can observe a spectacular sparkling waterfall in this location of Dangadi, which is located in the block called Bolba.
KetungaDham: One of the locations containing much historical significance is the Ketunga Dham. It is located in the Bano Block. This place is addressed to as the Land of Buddha Period by the Archeological Survey of India. Numerous figures of Lord Buddha were discovered here.
Rajadera: The Thaitanger Block contains this place called Rajadera. One can find here some pretty waterfalls situated right on the Chhinda River.
Bhairo Baba Pahari: The Bhairo Baba Pahari is basically a cave, which is located in the village named Phulwatanger of the Simdega Block. The shape of the cave takes the form of a living body.
Bhanwar Pahar: The Kolebira Block contains this place called Bhanwar Pahar. The name of the place has been given so because of the fact that huge numbers of Black Bees, known as Bhanwar, can be found here; thus the name. In between the stone in the surrounding hills, one can find a small water body or a pond. Throughout the year there is water in the pond.
Mazar of Anjan Peer Saheeb: This place is situated in the interior area of the police station of Kolebira. It stands for peace and harmony. In a yearly basis, this place hosts Uras Mela and hundreds of people come here to pray for harmony.
Tingina: The title of the ‘Ashok Vatika of Simdega’ is given to this place. One can only find Ashoka Trees here.
HOW TO REACH SIMDEGA
By air: The closest air terminal is located in Ranchi, which is set at a distance of 128 Kms from Simdega.
By rail: There is no railway station in Simdega; however people, who want to travel here via train, can take the trains up to Rourkela.
By road: Simdega can be accessed by road via frequent number of buses running from various locations to Simdega.
