MOKOKCHUNG
Mokokchung is an ideal spot for the hard core nature loving travelers, which is impressively tucked away in the north eastern frontiers of India. Its less populated and uncontaminated ambience springs up the excitement of the visitor. Mokokchung is tasting the essence of urbanization at a faster pace.
Mokokchung and surrounding places has many eye catching spots. Chuchuyimlang hamlet houses a majestic chain of undulating hills. The speciality of these is that it changes its color in accordance with the variation in the rays of the sun. Every year in the first week of May Moatsu Festival is celebrated with great pomp and joy. This festival is celebrated by the Ao tribal group after sowing of seeds.
Don’t miss a visit to Mopungchuket, a modern and well maintained village in Nagaland. The traditional houses are beautifully constructed with bamboo, wood and other lighter materials since the area is severely earthquake prone. Each house has a well maintained private lush garden. Tribal dances and folk-art programmes are regularly hosted in the amphitheatre which is spectacularly located close to the lake in order to educate the visitors about the true flavor of the Naga culture. To lure more and more tourists to this virgin paradise, the tourism department has built many cottages which is tucked-in with modern amenities like TV, 24 hours running water, room service facilities etc.
Longkhum, Fusen kei & Mongzu Ki Caves, Ungma village, Town Main Park and Tangkum Marok are the other must see places. It is best visited between October and December.
PLACES TO SEE
Ungma : It is one of the largest dwelling abodes of the Ao tribes. The Ao tradition and culture is still practiced and can be viewed live and exclusively by the visitor. The Baptist park and an old drum are the other attractions.
Tangkum Marok : Is a natural spring which the tribes believed to have magical healing powers.
Fusen Kei and Mongzu Ki Caves : These caves are the hidden gems and waiting for exploration. According to the locals, Fusen Kei is about 25 km in length.

By Train : Guwahati, about 400 kms from Mokokchung is the nearest railhead. Taxis/buses can be hired from here.
By Bus : Bus facilities are available to Guwahati.
