Malvan is a beautiful city with clean beaches, ancient temples and stunning monuments. Located in the Sindhudurg districts it is the Southern-most tip of Maharashtra and about 514 kms from Mumbai.
Malvan provides you a complete escape from the heat and dust of the city. The magnificent SindhuDurg fort which is a great example of artistic grandeur is must a visit. This fort has an underground tunnel which connects another fort called Padmagad.
Tarkali beach which is about 8kms away, is a wonderful beach with the perfect combination of beauty and development, solitude and activity. The surroundings of the beach will rejuvenate your body and will make your stay relaxing. Scuba-diving and snorkeling are the famous beach activities. On the sea shore there is a big fish market where fresh fish is auctioned every evening. Malvan also offers a spectacular sight of the sunset.
Malvan is a great place for food lovers. It is famous for lip-smacking Malvani Khaja, Malvani Hapus (Alphonso Mango) and fish curry. It is also famous for Chinese clay pottery.
June-October is the best time to visit Malvan.
PLACES TO VISIT
Sindhudurg Fort : This is stunning and strong fort which was built by Shivaji Maharaj on Kurte Islands in 1664. The fort consists of 52 Buruzs and 3 sweet water wells. There are 3 temples within the fort premises dedicated to Bhavanimata, Mahadev and Shivaji Maharaj. You can also see a rear sight of coconut tree which has branches. Boat must be taken inorder to reach the fort.
Tarkarli : Located on the banks of Karli river, it is about 8kms from Malvan. It has spectacular clean beaches made up of white sand.

By Road : Malvan is well connected to all the major cities including Goa, Devgad, Amboli etc. It has buses to Mumbai which is about 515kms away.
