Kausani was visited by Mahatma Gandhiji in 1929 and he expressed this place as ‘Switzerland of India’. The guest house where he stayed is now turned as Ashram. It is stocked with several books and photographs of Gandhiji. It is the place Mahatma Gandhi wrote his Gita-Anashakthi Yoga.
Lakshmi Ashram
It is called as Sarla ashram. It was found by the devotee of Gandhiji Catherine Hillman who was known as Sarlaben. It was established in 1946. It teaches cooking, vegetable growing and animal caring for more than 70 poor women who lives in ashram.
