Bageshwar District is a district in the state of Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand is situated in the northern part of India. The district headquarters is located in the town of Bageshwar. In the eastern Kumaon province of Uttarakhand, lies the district of Bageshwar. The district shares its borders with Chamoli on the west and northwest, with Pithoragarh District on the northeast and east, while on the south lays the Almora District. After Haridwar and Champawat, the third least inhabited district of Uttarakhand, is the Bageshwar District.
In Bageshwar there are numerous places for sightseeing, some of which are also of historically significant. At the place of union of Saryu River and Gomti River, the town of Bageshwar is situated. Among the numerous ancient temples which are sited in this place, the Baijnath temple and the Bagnath temple are two of them. Across the union of the rivers Saryu and Gomti, in the heart of the town, the temple of Bagnath is located. Other eminent temples in the district are the Chandika temple and the Neeleshwar temple. Situated on the highest point over Bageshwar, they offer a fine view of the city.
In the northern sections of region of Uttaranchal in India, the Bageshwar district is situated. The district of Pithoragarh rests on the east and borders with Tibet. In the western part of the state there is the Chamoli district while, to the north rests the Great Himalayas and to the south lies the district of Bageshwar.
