Jamshedpur

The Indian state of Jharkhand contains the city of Jamshedpur, which contains much significance. It is situated in the Chotanagpur Plateau region. The luxurious dense woods of the hills of Dalma encircle this place. The city has been established by Jamshedji Nusserwanji Tata. This city is considered to be the very first city that was a planner city. Another name given to the city is ‘Tatanagar’, since this city contains the TATA group of industries. It is also known by the name of the steel city. Numerous small and medium sized industries are also present here. 

Jamshedpur has deposits of several types of minerals such as coal, iron ore, lime, manganese and bauxite. One of the best and foremost business schools of India named XLRI is present here. Kharkai and Subarnarekha are the two rivers, which pass through Jamshedpur. Productive lands are present on the beds of the rivers. 

                                   PLACES TO VISIT IN JAMSHEDPUR

Jubilee Park: The area of land covered by this park is 225 acres. The park is ornamented with beautiful and vibrant flowers and sparkling fountains. The park has been constructed by the Tata Steel Company during the time of its Golden Jubilee Year. It was built as a present to the dwellers of Jamshedpur. 

Dimna Lake and Dam: A perfect location for carrying out picnics and boating, the Dimna Lake and Dam is situated at the base of the hills named Dalma Hills. The Dimna Lake has been constructed by TATA Steel. There is a Lake House on the side of the lake. 

Dalma Wild Life Sanctuary: The height of the Dalma Mountain Range is 3000 feet. One can find wild animals such as elephants, barking deer, sloth bear, porcupines, leopard, tigers and many more species in the dense forests of the mountains. A guesthouse belonging to the Tata Steel and Forest Department is present on the summit of the hill. Also, one can find a Shiva Temple on the summit of the mountain. 

Tata Steel Zoological Park: The Tata Steel Zoological Park is present at the point where the two rivers namely Kharkai and Subarnarekha meet. One can take a ride in the Safari Park, where wild animals stroll around unleashed. A Nature Education Centre is also present here. Fun activities such as boating, picnic and bird watching can be done here. 

Sir Dorabji Tata Park: This Park is ornamented with well maintained lawns, vibrant beds of flowers and spectacular fountains. It has been constructed in the reminiscence of the J N Tata, the eldest son. Right in the middle of the city this park is located. In the month of December, a flower show is held in the Sir Dorabji Tata Park. 

Hudco Lake: The Hudco Lake is located amidst the undulating landscape of the Telco Colony. For those, who prefer to be amidst the nature but also in the vicinity of the city, this location is an ideal spot. Sumant Mulgaonkar Park is a park, which has been created out of a hill, which is situated adjacent to the lake. 

Jubilee Amusement Park: This Jubilee Amusement Park provides ample opportunity for enjoyment for the children. Several fun games like whirling in the wind, dashing cars, derby riding, caterpillar ride and a 75 meter slide are present here. This place is encircled by green colored small hills and water bodies. 

Ghatshila: Numerous people come to Ghatshila for enjoying the beautiful rolling landscape. Famous Bengali writer named Bibhuti Bhushan Bandhopadhyay has mentioned about the beauty of this place in his writings. 

Fuldungri: One can obtain a stunning view of the undulating hill ranges and meadows covered in greeneries from the Fuldungri Peak. It is situated on the northern corner of the town of Ghatshila. 

Burudih Lake: The Burudih Lake is situated at the distance of 17 Kms from Fuldungri, in its north direction. One can enjoy fun activities like boating in the lake. 

Dharagiri Falls: Located on the Ghatshila Phuljhore forest road, this waterfall is a spectacular site to enjoy.

By Air: An air terminal is present in Sonari. 

By Rail: Tatanagar is the railway station. 

By Road: There is a good network of road connecting Jamshedpur to other locations of the country.
