Bokaro Steel City

Considered as one of the biggest steel manufacturing unit in India, the Bokaro Steel Plant is located in the Indian state of Jharkhand. The amount produced by this place is five million tons of steel. There are almost as many as 30,000 employees working for the company. Upgrading activities are being carried out here and in the past years modernization has been done. 

The Bokaro Steel City is located on the river bed of the Damodar River. It is located in the Chotanagpur Plateau region. This location is set against a backdrop of valleys of varying altitude and meandering streams. 

                  PLACES TO VISIT IN BOKARO STEEL CITY

Parasnath Hill: Situated in the Giridih District in the Indian state of Jharkhand, the Parasnath Hills are a set of hills. The altitude of the highest peak is 1350 meters. The name of this hill has been derived after the name of the 23rd Tirthankara. Shri Sammet Shikhar Teerth is another name by which the Parasnath Hills is called. 

Ukrid: This place is considered to be a much ancient place, most probably existent during the time period of 13th Century AD. One can find numerous archaic and medieval memorials here. 

Rajrappa: This place is renowned for the presence of the ‘Chinnamasta Temple’. It is located on the river bed at the location, where the two rivers namely Bhairavi and Damodar. Set against a beautiful backdrop of luxurious green environment, the name of this location has been derived from the temple called ‘Rajrappa Mandir’. 

Bokaro Ispat Pustakalaya: This place is situated close to the Bokaro Hotel. It houses more than 40,000 books. 

Buddha Vihar: Situated in Sector 4/D, this location is the solitary location for people following Buddhism.

Ram Mandir: This temple of Lord Ram is encircled by other little temples of other different gods and goddesses. Some of the famous items of the Ram Mandir market are batata poori, chat, samosa, phucka and egg rolls. 

Jagannath Temple: One of the recently constructed temples, the Jagannath Temple has been constructed in the same style of the temple in Puri, Orissa. 

Kali Mandir: One of the most ancient temples is the city is the Kali Mandir. It is situated in the Sector-8. The embodiment of Shakti, Goddess Kali, is the reigning deity here in the temple. 

City Park: This City Park is located in Bokaro. It contains a manmade lake and three numbers of manmade islands. Previously, this place used to contain some varieties of animals. At present, these animals are relocated to the Jawaharlal Botanical Garden during the time of 1990’s. 

Jawaharlal Nehru Biological Park: In the Indian state of Jharkhand, this zoological garden is the largest of its kind. During the time between the late 1980’s and the initial years of 1990’s, the construction of this place took place. One can see different varieties of animals and birds here. There is a manmade lake in the middle of the park, where one can carry out boating activities. 

Chas: At one point of time, this small area used to be centre for business activities. During the time period, when Bokaro was still an element in the district of Dhanbad, this place used to be the administrative headquarters of the region and it continued being so, when the status of a district was given to Bokaro. 

Pupunki Ashram: The village is quite famous for its fields and fishing activities. The holy Pupunki Ashram is situated across to the National Highway number 32. Numerous Gurus used to dwell here in the ashram in order to motivate hundreds of pupils to gain scientific as well as spiritual knowledge. 

Chandrapura: The Chandrapura Thermal Power Station is present in this town. It is under DVC. Previously, this plant use to generate much pollution, however now due to change in technology, the pollution level has come down. 

Bokaro (Thermal): The much renowned Bokaro Thermal Power Station is located here in this town. It is considered to be the most ancient power plant in the continent of Asia. 

By air: The closest air terminal is located in Ranchi.

By rail: Bokaro Steel City is very well connected to other major cities of the country.

By road: One can access Bokaro Steel City via frequent running buses, cabs and private cars.
