A gigantic fort of historical significance. An ancient fort of 300 years old, located in 40 acres of land, built in 1969 during Sivappa Nayak period. The glowing picnic spot of Bekal housing tanks which holds a tunnel faces south and a flight steps, one of the excellent feature of this fort. Mosque, Anjeneya temple, sea bastion, observation tower, seaside pathway, ancient magazine which was used to store ammunitions and weapons are the must see features and spots in fort.
Bekal Fort Beach
It is near to Bekal Fort, located within a kilometer from fort. The beach is completely fringed with palm trees which offers a heart throbbing sight-seeing to visitors. The huge area of 35 acres is enshrouded with white sand of this beach. It is one of the most beautiful and popular beaches in Kerala. A rock garden beautifully decorated wih various sizes of laterite boulders, located at parking area and two amazing theyyam style of sculptures with shed which is adorned with famous mural paintings are the prominent features of this beach.
Ananthapuram Lake Temple
It is a popular lake temple, located 5 km from Kumbala, an ancient temple, belived to be built in 9th century, dedicated to Lord Anantha Padmanabha Swamy located at the center of lake.
