Osmanabad is a district in the state of Maharashtra. The district headquarters are located at Osmanabad city. It was earlier known as Dharashiv. A famous temple of Goddess Tuljabhavani at Tulajapur is present here. Osmanabad district lies in the southern part of state. Most of the district area is rocky while the remaining part is plain. It is located 600 meters above sea level. A small mountain Balaghat surrounds the district. The Tehsils that lie in the range of the mountain are Bhoom, Washi, Kalamb, Osmanabad and Tuljapur Tahsil. Some part of the major rivers like Godawari and Bhima come under this district.

Osmanabad Climate

The rainy season starts from mid-June and lasts till September. The climate is humid in October and November and dry and cool from mid-November to January. The climate becomes increasingly hot and dry from February to June. The temperature of Osmanabad is comparatively low than other districts during summers. The average annual rainfall in the district is 730 mm. Temperature Max.: 42.1 C; Min.: 8 C.
