The state of Mizoram constitutes of 8 districts, out of which the district of Lunglei is one. The northern frontier of the district is surrounded by the district of Mamit and Aizwal, Bangladesh rests on the western frontier, the district of Lawngtlai rests on the southern frontier and the southeast boundary is surrounded by Saiha District, while the Myanmar rests on the eastern side and the Serchhip District lies on the northeast frontier. 4538 square kilometers of land is covered by the district. The administrative headquarters of the district is located in the town of Lunglei.
