Jalor District is a district of Rajasthan state in western India with its administrative headquarters located in Jalore city. The district bordered with Barmer District on the northwest by, Pali District on the northeast, Sirohi District on the southeast and with Banaskantha District of Gujarat state on the southwest.
Jalor History
The main town got its name Jabalipur after sacred groove of Mahirishi Jabali. Prathihar King Naresh Nagbhatt-II expanded the range of his state from Arabian Sea to Bay of Bengal. Songara Chouhans who were ready to die for their nation and its glory, made it their Capital by fighting it out. Jalore, Bhinmal and Sanchore, its three main towns were ruled by Prathihar, Parmar, Chalukya, Chouhan, Pathan Mughal and Rathore dynasties.
Before independence the present district of Jalor was a part of Jodhpur province. Administratively, it was divided into three Parganas of Hukumats- Jalore, Jaswantpura and Sanchore. History was written on 30th March 1949 when Rajasthan state was formed and Jodhpur province was incorporated into it and consequently, Jalore became a part of Jodhpur province. When various districts were made Jalore also made its presence felt on the scene and it was converted into a separate district in the present day.

The minimum and maximum temperatures of the district are 4 degrees and 50 degrees Celsius respectively with average rainfall of 412 mm. The district has harsh climate is generally dry.
