SONAGIR
Sonagir is a famous devout centre for Digambar Jains and a fantastic tourist destination filled with culture, heritage, scenic beauty and historic temples. Located in the Datia district of Madhya Pradesh, this pious place is popular for its large collection of Jain temples. It is estimated that about five crore sages have attained Moksha/Salvation at Sonagir. The 8th Thirtankara Bhagwan Chandraprabh, King Nanganag Kumar and some of the saints like Chintagati, Poornachand, Ashoksen, Shridatta, Swarnbhadra have got Nirvana at this place.
Laghu Sammed Shikhar, a lofty hill which is majestically spread out on an area of 132 acres houses about 77 Jain temples. The stunning temple dedicated to Lord Chandraprabhu, is the prime shrine among them. The 11 feet idol of the god is the main attraction. The statues of Lord Sheetalnath & Parsvanath can also be seen. The 43 feet Pillar of Pride (Manstambh) near the temple attracts the tourists. Acharya Shubh Chandra & Bhartrihari composed some of the beautiful devotional works/writings at this temple. Nestled in the lap of Mother Nature this temple allures the pilgrims with its calm and cool ambience. The panoramic views of the spectacular scenic locale can be relished from this temple.
It is believed that a poor lady built Pisan Hari ka Mandir by grinding the grains. Temple of Domes, The Gumbajdar Temple stuns the visitors with lofty towers located at the four corners. Kund-Kund Nagar is popular for its big 18 feet statue of Bahubali built on an elevated platform of 25 feet. The 24 Jain Theerthankaras attained their salvation here. Apart from that Sonagiri has many Dharmashalas which have separate temples. Chanderi, Papouraji, Thuvonji, Devgarh are some of the surrounding holy cities.

By Air : Gwalior airport which is about 63 kms from Sonagir has the nearest airport.
By Road : It is easily accessible by road from Datia.
