Sivakasi is a famous town renowned for the fire crackers and match box industry.  This proud industrial town is located in Virudhunagar District of Tamilnadu. Apart from industries, it is well known for the temples, temple festivals like Chitirai Pongal, Panguni Pongal, waterfalls and Dams. Sivakasi is popular for its beautiful calenders and colorful pictures. It is the major fire crackers production area which contributes 90 percent in crackers production. This 600 years old town attracts numerous visitors by several temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, mainly Vishwanatha temple and many temple festivals which are celebrated in a grand manner.

Places to visit

Sri Badrakaliamman Temple
The most famous temple in Sivakasi. Goddess Badrakaliamman is presiding deity who is considered the patron of this town. Rajagopuram is the special feature of this temple. This tower is considered as highest tower among all Kali temples of Tamilnadu.

Parasakthi Mariamman Temple
It is an old temple built on 1923 and a popular pildrimage of Sivakasi. Goddess Sakthi is presiding deity. Panguni Uttiram is famous festival, celebrated for 21 days.

Ayyanar Falls
The most beautiful and a major tourist attraction located at a distance of 12 km from Rajapalayam. An amazing waterfall measuring 15 feet. The serene backdrop is offered by the dense deciduous forest. It is a best place to chill out.

Pilavakkal Dam
It is another popular spot for picnickers. The dam has two divisions namely Periyar and Kollidam Dam. Children Park is also located in the Dam premises. An ideal choice to relax and rejoice with sizzling water force.

Kasi Vishwanatha Swamy Temple, Muthaliyar Oothu, Nenmeni, Kullur Sandhai Reservoir, Vembakottai, Sri Venkatachalapahy temple, Sattur, Thiruchuli, Thiruthangal and Thiruvilaputhur Andal Temple are other famous tourist destinations in Sivakasi.
