Seerkazhi
Seerkazhi is a popular religious destination located on the banks of majestic River Kollidam in Nagapattinam District of Tamilnadu. Places to visit
Brahmapureeswarar Temple
It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and his consort Thirumala Nayaki. The temple complex enshrines three different shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva. The other main deities are Sattainathar and Thoniappar. It has sacred theertham called Brahma Theertham. The beautiful temple is gigantically surrounded by tall towers at each side called Gopuram.
Sattanathaswamy Temple
T is located inside the Brahmapureeswarar temple premises. Sattainathar is the presiding deity, who is also called as Vatukanathar. There is big courtyard which is ideal place meditate and relax. Maha Shivarathri is celebrated with pomp and show.
Brahma Tirtha
It is one of the 22 sacred thirthas , located inside the Brahmapureeshwarar temple premises. It is believed that Lord Brahma took bath hear and offered prayers to Lord Shiva at this Thirtha. An ablution in this Thirtha is considered sacred among devotees.
Vaitheeswaran Temple
The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva who is expressed as Vaitheeswaran, Lord of Medicine. It is famous for Naadi astrology. Legends claims that leprosy can be cured by offering prayers at this temple. The temple complex comprises of Siddhamirtham Tank and Navagraha temple. The water of holy tank is considered powerful cure of various skin disease.
Other Places
Gopalakrishnan temple, Thirukolakka Shabdapureeswar temple, Thrukaiyur Amirthagatewarar temple, Mayuranathaswamy temple and Thillai Nataraja Temple are other famous temples to be visited.
