REASI

 

 Reasi is a small place in the district with the same name in the state Jammu and Kashmir. In 8th century the place was under the Sikh ruler Raja Gulab Singh. The place experiencing a cool summer and chilling winter is blessed with a wide variety of sightseeing places loved by people belonging to all age groups. 

 

 Every Indian who believes in god will have longing desire to visit the Vaishno Devi Shrine popularly known as “Vaishno Devi Yatra” atleast once in his/her lifetime. Katra in Reasi, is the base point to start a 12 km long walk to touch the feet of the Vaishnodevi Mata perched in the snow fed caps of the mighty Shivaliks and feel blessed. Wealthy devotees can hire a helicopter to reach the shrine effortlessly. People throng the temples in huge numbers to wrad off their sins and purify themselves. Walking amidst the picturesque surroundings chanting hymns and interacting with the fellow pilgrims is a lifetime experience for sure. 

 

 Shiv Khori housing the cave temple of Lord Shiva draws huge crowd on the Mahashivratri. It is about 100 kms away from Reasi. Dera Baba Banda is a shrine which is held in a respectable position by the Sikhs. Dera Baba was a brave soldier who constantly guarded and protected Guru Gobind Singh. The month of April witnesses huge influx of devotees from the adjoining areas on the account of Baisakhi festival. 

 

 Salal hydro power project constructed across the River Chenab is a site of knowledge and curiosity that must be visited. History buffs will get attracted by the charm of Bhimgarh fort which is located close to River Anji.
