Ramban District, situated at the height of 1156 meters, is a newly formed district of the state of Jammu and Kashmir of India. It shares borders with Patnitop on South, Assar on East, Gool on west and Banihal on north. The district Ramban comprises 2 Tehsils and 4 Blocks.The Tehsils are Ramban and Banihal and the blocks are Banihal, Gool, Ramban and Ramsoo. According to the census of 2001, the district consists of 116 census villages and 127 Revenue villages out of which two villages namely Dhar Shivgarh Ramban Tehsil and Jagir Namdhar Banihal Tehsil are un-inhabited. There are 124 panchayats in the district. Gujjar & Bakerwal sell their cattle at a place called toll post, located in Ramban.
