Pulicat is a small town located at a distance of 60 km from Chennai. The town is set apart of picturesque beauty and houses a Dutch cemetery dating back to the 17th century. The Coromandel Coast in India contributed a vital role all over history. It has been crafting record for more than twelve centuries The main attraction of the place is the Pulicat Lake. It is the second largest brackish water lake in South Asia. Pulicat is also thronged with beautiful birds especially near the water banks of Pulicat Lake. Almost every year between the months of October and March, myriads of wandering birds take shelter. Although varies bird species are seen, the flamingos are significant, thronging the swamplands adjacent to the lake.

Pulicat Lake This place represents a great picnic spot for nature admirer and is provided with diverse natural resources in the type of aquatic life. The lake is a nursery for several species of fish. The aquatic resources include fishes, many edible aquatic life forms, reptiles, insects, birds and animals. Fisheries including White Prawns, Tiger Prawns, Mullets, Catfish, and Green Crabs are some of the edible resources of the lake.
