ITARSI

 Itarsi is a beautiful town located in the Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh. This place with rich scenic beauty is popular for its gurgling waterfalls and rich collection of fauna. Besides that Itarsi is also a prime commercial spot for agricultural products. 

 

 The Tawa Dam/ reservoir and the Bori Wildlife sanctuary are the important tourist places. Tawa dam is a major picnic spot for the families. The water from this dam is mainly used for irrigation purpose. Bori wildlife sanctuary with wide collection of wildlife is greatly loved by the kids. Muntjac Deer, Tiger, Leopard and Rhesus Macaque can be spotted in the Reserve forest. 

  Hushang Shah Fort which is located over the flowing waters of the Narmada is greatly admired by the historians. Itarsi is also a home for many places with great religious importance. One can witness many Hindu temples along the banks of the Holy Narmada. Boodi Mata Mandir is an important place for the Hindu devotees. People gather in many numbers to seek blessings of the Mata. Hanuman Dham is a shrine dedicated to the Vayuputhr, Hanuman. Apart from Hindu temples Itarsi also has many devotional places for the Christians. Evangelican Lutheran Church, Roman Catholic Church and Pentacostal Church of God are the prime Churches.

By Air : About 90 kms from Itarsi is the Bhopal airport. It has regular flights to Raipur, Ahmedabad, Delhi and Mumbai. Taxis are available from Bhopal airport. 

By Train : Trains provide the cheapest means of transport. Itarsi has trains to Agra, Chennai, Jammu and Delhi etc.
