OverView of Behra Thru

Behra thru is a famous village on the bank of Ganga canal just 2 km away from Bhopa town. Historically behra thru was a Jaat village and most of people were brave and Patriot farmers. During the different dynasties in india, it maintained its glory and recognition on the indias map. When Taimur lung attacked in india, a large amount of Jaats gathered on the bank of river gange near shukrataal. People of this village also took part in that battle. Unfortunately jaats cound't defeat a big army of Taimur lung but they weakened his army as well and that was resulted in Taimur's defeat.

During Akbar rule in this region,this village was levied with huge amount of Land tax and due to that the population remained poor. But with the efforts and hard labour of farmers of this village, Behra thru regained its happiness. During British rule this village became a hub of freedom activities. Britishers felt the requirement of irrigation projects and when they started digging of ganga canal in the year of 1855, They marked this village in the line of their project. People of this village took part in the first war of independence in 1857. Village is symbol of communal harmony and people of all Faiths live here with camaraderie and participate in each other's festivals and social functions. Even thigh majority of people are Hindus, prominently Jaats but they have always shown love and respect to Muslim community. This village has produced some good community leaders like Choudhary Meghraj Singh Rathi, Haji Abdullah Family, Jodha Singh, Devditt Sharma, Parasram Singh, Shola Singh etc. Current breed of leaders includes Choudhary Chadarveer Rathi, Haji Guddu, Bittu Pradhan and Jeet Singh Rathi.

Haji Liyakat Pradhan from Abdullah Family had served as Graam Pradhan for 3 tenure and fought assembly election in 2017 on Samajwadi Party's ticket. Current Graam Pardhan is Chaderveer Rathi.
