OverView of Kasalagere
Kasalagere village has a history of 1200 years. The old name of this town is Hebbidiravadi. Kasalagere (455): This is a village near Devalapur from which five inscriptions are reported. A record dated 1142 AD near the ruined Kalleshwara temple outside the village records a grant made by Savanta Someyanayaka, a disciple of Bhanukirti Siddhanta, to the god Parshvanatha.He led to the construction of a tall chaityalaya (Jain temple) at Hebbidiravadi and enshrined the deity. Ballala Another record dated 1190 AD registers a grant for daily services to Lord Kalideva at Hebbidiravadi. Another record dated about 12th century earlier to the left mentions the local Basada as 'Ekoti Jinalaya of Kalyunina' and names the sculptor Machoja and hails him as the Acharya of Kalkuni Nadi and Vishwakarma of this Kali Yuga. Local records confirm that the initial name of Kasalagere was Hebbidiravadi. Kalleshwar temple is in ruins and the Jain temple is no more. The ruined Kalleshwara temple (Kalideva of records) outside the village is a simple structure with garbhagriha, antarala, and navarangas. The sanctum sanctorum has a Shivalinga and the ceiling has lotus decorations, with a simple door frame. The ceiling of navaranga is dilapidated. The navaranga has a Jain inscription and a Surya sculpture. The exterior of the wall and the frame of the temple gate have disappeared. AD A Jain record dated 1142 mentions the god Parshvanatha. The ruined temple was originally a Jain temple, henceforth referred to as Ekoti Jinalaya due to its religious implications, and later became a Kalideva temple in 1190 AD. This fact needs some testing. Among the veeragallu in this temple, there are two mentions of a Mahadeva and Mahadevi couple. This Veeragal has three panels. The lower panel has figures of couples with fans (servants). The panel features figures of a couple marching towards an empty stage. Near it is a soldier holding a sword. Perhaps indicating some spontaneous combustion. The upper panel has a mukkod engraving. On the right side of this temple is another viragallu sculpture in Veerara Gudi (Shrine of Nayaka Kallu) indicating the death of a certain veera Gujjanayaka. In the village there are Mudalingeshwar, Boredeva, Vishnu, Lakshmidevi, Maramma. And the ancient Kalideva temple (Kalleshwar). Among them Muddalingeshwar temple is very important. It is believed that the king of Mysore gave the sword to this temple. There was also a festival of 60 villages. During Dussehra, there was a custom of rabbit slaughtering. There was also It is going on loudly for twenty days after Shivaratri.
