Algan Village area is 2.5km square.In Village 55 Pakka houses.200 votter and total Population260 .55 families lives.For villagers Primary School, here's one JBT teacher and 15 students.HistoryAlagan is an old village, but most of the people here migrated from other areas around 100-150 years ago. There are one or two families who believe that they have been here for much longer, but there is no confirmation of this.During excavations in the village, some remains were found, suggesting that a civilization existed here in the past.According to the elders, Brahmins used to live here, and there was a temple and a deity known as Devta Sahib. The Brahmin families used to worship him. The elders say that the Brahmins hunted and ate the peacocks of Devta Sahib, which was not appropriate for them. Because of this, Devta Sahib became angry and destroyed the entire village and its people.Today, we can still see some remains of that ancient civilization or village. However, how much truth there is to this story can only be determined through research.Many years ago, a villager found the crown of Devta Sahib during an excavation, which further supports the connection between this story and history.Geography:Alagan is surrounded by mountains on all sides and is situated in a valley. It is either the first or the last village of Chohar Valley.This beautiful village is located in the northern part of Mandi district and is surrounded by dense forests of pine and deodar trees.It is situated at an altitude of 1,700 to 1,900 meters above sea level.The land here is very fertile, and people practice all kinds of farming, including garlic, onions, ginger, peas, soybeans, French beans, maize, wheat, barley, millet, etc.Apart from farming, people are also moving towards horticulture.
