Existence of Talo Village : A Historical Background
Talo village came into existence because of Abb Jorjo (forefather), then his son Jorjo's Jopu - Topu and again Topu's sons - Pulyi - Putam i.e. Lel and Tatam during whose time, both the brothers migrated first at present Hija Village and settled there for sometime and performed a YULO in Nada Lepw. Because of fear of pidemics and other geographical factors, they migrated to Sulyi Hapa (present Sulyi Joram , 73 Km) and settled there for many years. The present Kenabu bamboo(Tabe) garden is owned by both the brothers - Abb Tatam and Lel. During the time, paddy and other crops were badly affected by pests and other reasons. To overcome those problems, they performed Nyokum puja which is believed to be the first to celebrate Nyokum among the entire Nyishi world. Probably, during that time Todh brothers participated Nyokum & Yullo wherein their Tader Khome(a kind of bamboo) was broken which was believed to be an eveil symptom for the Todh brothers. After some years, both Lel and Tatam again migrated to a place near Yoglu (backside of Por Gabb) and settled there for few years. Then, again migrated to present Depo-Buru & Reyi (popularly known as Loko ) of Talo village for many years to till date. The family of abb Jorjo & Tania lives together unitedly. Probably, it is believed that the decendant of abb Jorjo & Tania was the first to discover Talo village. Other brothers living upper side of Talo came down near Dolo Putu and settled with the later and living together unitedly.
During the course of migration from Sulyi Hapa to backside of Por Gabb and to present Depo-Buru & Reyi, they discontinued Nyokum puja for long. During those grace period, brothers of Joram revived Nyokum puja as there paddy and other crops also affected badkly as happened during the time of abb Lel & Tatam. As a mark of respect and love, Joram brothers collected donations like - egg, chicks, wine & rice from the brothers of Loko for being the clans who first performed Nyokum at Sulyi Hapa.
In this way, Talo village came into existence and history of origin of Nyokum lost...
