OverView of Sanganahalli
Sanganahalli is a historic village which was formed more than 150 years ago by a few brahmin families which settled there. Thus the name Agraharam was given to the village in addition to the official name of Sanganahalli. The village has a history of bus services from the gold mining town of KGF since 1950 itself. It was also the first village in the region to get electricity many decades ago.The village is a neatly planned one with 2 major streets parallel to each other and the main street having the Beautiful Venkateshwara swamy temple at the head of the street facing east. The village also has a beautiful lake just outside the village. At the downstream side of the lake is the historic Chowdeshwari Devi temple which is beleived to be more than 250 years old. This is a unique temple which houses the idols of the diety Chowdeshwari Devi and also her 7 sisters. Both the temples of the village have the annual temple festivals. The chariot festival of the Venkateshwara swamy temple starts around RamNavami every year and the Chwdeshwari Devi temple festival called ''DEEPALU'' or "PONGULLU" is held during July season.
Agraharam was renowned in those days for being in touch with the latest facilities. There was a community center in the village with a radio for the villagers to sit and enjoy the evening entertainment in those days itself. There was also a primary school in the village since more than 6 decades ago. Now the village has a full fledged School upto 10th Std and also a dairy facility which helps the cattle breeding farmers to sell their milk to the government everyday. The village also has a water treatment plant to provide drinking water to the people at subsidised cost. The village also has an overhead tank which supplies piped water to all the houses directly. Sanganahalli has been a landmark and benchmark village in the region for all parameters and has remained an important village in the region.
