Village Ukhyang Fest
Festival about the village Ukhyang,which comes every year.the meaning of Ukhyang is the "flowers fest",,& it is celebrated in every vill. of kinnour with the beautiful fragrance of the flowers.it starts from vill. rupi in the month of sept.the people are dressed in their traditional outfits.men use to wear "khadi" coats and women use to wear dhodu. it continues for 4-5 days
On the first day senior citizens use to sing the traditional songs related to this fest..and this continues throughout the day.On the next day the main fest begins and 3 selected people of the vill. bring flowers from the "kanda" the traditional spot at the height of mountrain.they are dressed in traditional dress and they hold axes in their hands and wear traditional caps having a flower fixed on it.They reach at the foot of mountain during the evening time and great celebration begings.People are full of cheer and happiness.Each and every villager is there for their tradituional and religious fest.The three selected people take 3 rounds of the temple setup for the fest and dancing and singing is done for almost an hour.At the last round people try to grab the "malas" of the 3 people.The people keep flowers of the malas as they believe it as the blessing of god.
