OverView of Kalluru
in 1969, the river Chitravathi was was full of water and flowing more than 6 months in year. Now there is no water and even there is no sand. This village has history and it is an ancient village. You can still see Old temples. Tall tower and stone wall around village were there.But unfortunately the tower (called BURUJU in Telugu) has been demolished recently. There was DHARMA SATRAM built during British ruling period where all official meetings were held.This building also has been demolished and school rooms for 6th and 7th classes have been constructed at this place.
There are some stones with SHASANS infront of Rama temple in some other language. SIVA temple is the oldest temple , may be more than 500 years old.
There are old caves which are not properly researched.
Agriculture is the main and rice ,ground nuts,Banana,Mosambi are main crops and there is no industrail development. Water is the main problem. Becuase of dams constructed at various places at upriver of Chitravathi in Karnataka and also in AP, this village is facing problem with water. The ground water level going down and down. Authority of AP Govt has to take some steps to preserve this old village.
