Sant Kabir Nagar is a district in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The district headquarters are situated at Khalilabad Town. It forms part of the Basti division. The district is bound by Siddharth Nagar and Maharajganj districts on the north, Gorakhpur on the east, Ambedkar Nagar on the south and Basti on the west.
Sant Kabir Nagar History
The district of Sant Kabir Nagar is a newly created district within the easter belt of the state of Uttar Pradesh. There is a place called Maghar in the district which was the home of the famous saint and philosopher Sant Kabir. The district is said to have derived its name from him. This district came into force on September 5, 1997 involving parts of the district of Basti. It includes 131 villages from the Tehsil Basti and 161 villages from the Tehsil Bansi of the district Siddharth Nagar. It is surrounded by Gorakhpur, Basti, Siddharth Nagar and Ambedkar Nagar on the east, west, north and south respectively.
Sant Kabir Nagar Climate
The climate of the district is more equable than the adjoining districts to the south. The district experiences four distinct climates. Winters last from mid November to February. Summers last till June. Rainfall occurs from mid-June till the end of September. October to mid-November is the post monsoon or transition period.
