Jaipur District is a district of Rajasthan. The state of Rajasthan is situated in the western part of India. The district headquarters of Jaipur Distrit is the city of Jaipur. It is the capital city of the state, Rajasthan. Jaipur occupies the tenth place in the list of most populated district in India. It is also the biggest city of Rajasthan.
Jaipur is well-known as the Pink City. Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II established the city on 18th November 1727. He was then, the ruler of Amber. At present more than 3.1 million people inhabits the city. Jaipur is considered to be among the excellently designed cities of India. It is situated amongst Rajasthans semi-desert areas. In the past the city of Jaipur used to be the capital city of the kings and rulers. Subsequently it also became the capital city of Rajasthan, of present day. The citys construction and formation bears similarity to the Rajputs and the Royal Families taste. In the current day, Jaipur is considered to be a major centre for business. The city contains all the essentialities to be called an urban city. Mansarovar, Vaishali Nagar, Sanganer, Jhotwada, Amba-Bari and Raja Park are some of the main and popular areas in India.
The city of Jaipur is regarded as quite incredible and notable amongst the other pre-modern cities of India. Its broad and spacious streets and the way they are divided into 6 sectors by the wide streets of 111 ft width are noteworthy. A network of crisscross streets further segregates the urban sectors. A central palace quarter is encircled on the east, south and west sides by other five quarters. To the immediate south lies the sixth quarter. The center Palace quarter included an enormous complex, rim and proper gardens and a lake of small size. In the northwest part of the old city, on the top of the hills, Nahargarh Fort is situated. It was the home of the King Sawai Jai Singh II. One of the World Heritage Sites, which is Jantar Mantar, the observatory, is also in that place. In Rajasthan and also in India, Jaipur is a well known and popular holiday location. The reason behind calling Jaipur by the name of Pink City is that in 1876, in order to greet Prince Albert and Queen Victoria, Jaipur was decorated and covered in the color of terracotta pink. And thus the name Pink City came into being.
