Gautam Buddh Nagar is a district in the state of Uttar Pradesh. It is largely suburban. It forms part of the Greater Delhi Region. The district headquarters of this district are situated at NOIDA which stands for New Okhla Industrial Development Authority. It is growing on a very fast pace. In fact, it has shown a growth of 51.52% in the decade starting from 2001. On the west, this district is separated from Delhi and Harayana by the River Yamuna. The district of Ghaziabad touches this district on the north, Bulandshahr district on the east and the district of Aligarh on the south. Greater Noida, the district headquarters are situated 40 kilometers south-east of Delhi and 20 kilometers south-east of Noida. It is one of the largest industrial townships of the state of Uttar Pradesh.
Gautam Buddh Nagar History
On June 9, 1997, some parts from the districts of Bulandshahr and Ghaziabad were taken and amalgamated. It has a total area of 1354 square kilometers. It has proved to be the most favourite and most important investment destination for major companies and industries in India due its closeness to Delhi and better infrastructure facilities. Noida, Greater Noida, Dadri and area along Taj Express Highway are the major industrial areas as of now. A great revolutionary named Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil lived in a village called Rampur Jagir in 1919 when he was hidden underground after Mainpuri conspiracy. This village also comes under the districts jurisdiction. The state government has made a park after him to honour him.
